A 25-year-old auto driver was allegedly shot dead by two armed men in broad daylight in Tamil Nadu’s Virudhunagar district on Wednesday.

The deceased Karuppusamy -a native of Kavalapatti was killed by two unidentified co-passengers of a state bus heading towards Coimbatore from Nagercoil.

According to the police, when the bus arrived at Satur, the assailants shot dead the victim at around 11.30 am and escaped.

The attackers had reportedly taken tickets for Virudhunagar. Initial investigations link the murder to an inter-gang rivalry, police say.

Sketches will be released to nab the culprits, the police added.
