“It is not a battle between the Right and the Left, it is a battle between people living in the country who want to break the country, and the people who love the country,” said Vivek Agnihotri, the director of Buddha In A Traffic Jam, addressing students at Jadavpur University.

The director, who was reportedly attacked on Friday on his way to the University, made his address amidst chants of protestors.

The director also asked, when the country had given birth to many great political minds, “Why do we need to borrow Mao from outside the country?”

The film’s screening on Friday was reportedly stalled midway due to protests by students of the university, who are members of Left-leaning student organizations.

“Buddha in a Traffic Jam” is a political satire at the expense of radical Leftists and Maoists in the country.
