You think sometimes voice and text aren’t enough to communicate effectively to your loved ones? Well, now you can be glad since WhatsApp thinks so too.

The popular messaging platform recently announced the introduction of video calling feature, effective from November 15.

With the aim of making the video calling feature available to everyone irrespective of the kind of phones they own or the telecom network they are connected to, the new feature works across Android, iPhone, and Windows Phone. 

Users can begin to use the video calling feature via an app update.

WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook, launched voice call feature in 2015. 

Similar to voice calls, the video calls will also be encrypted end-to-end. WhatsApp will now provide two options for voice call and video call when you press the phone button on a contact’s profile.

With the new feature, WhatsApp is expected to compete with Apple's FaceTime, Microsoft-owned Skype and Google's newly launched Duo.
