UP tops crime against SCs, not a single case reported from 5 N-E states & 3 UTs

According to the National Crime Records Bureau data releases on Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of cases of crime against members of the Schedule Caste community with 8,358 instances in 2015. 

While the country did register a decline of 4.51% from 47,064 in 2014 to 45,003 in 2015, in UP, there was an increase of 3.50% from 2014 (8075 cases were then reported).

While Rajasthan and Bihar reported 6998 and 6438 criminal cases against SCs respectively, Andhra Pradesh registered 4415 such cases. 

The five North-Eastern states of Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh however did not report a single such case. The Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar islands, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Lakshadweep too did not have a single case registered in 2015. 

Very few cases were reported from Kerala, Punjab & Haryana, Goa, Uttarakhand, Tripura, Assam and West Bengal .
