Two Saudi women who violated Saudi Arabia’s female driving ban have been referred to a court which handles terrorism cases.

The women had been detained for almost a month after which the referral was made., reported AP. Lawyers of the women appealed against the decision to move the case to specialised criminal court in Riyadh, a court which also tries activists.

According to lawyers, the charges against the women were not for defying the driving ban, however it was for the opinions they had shared on social media, said the report.

Loujain al-Hathloul and Maysa al-Amoudi, 33 were detained for nearly a month, but no specific charges were described considering the sensitivity of the case.
