PV Sindhu defeats Sun Yu to claim her first Super Series Title at China Open

Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu battled past Chinese Sun Yu to win the women's singles title of the China Superseries Premier badminton tournament in Fuzhou on Sunday.

The seventh seed won the first game 21-11 but lost the next 17-21 before registering a 21-11 triumph in the final game to clinch the title. 

The final lasted an hour and nine minutes. It was 21-year-old Sindhu's maiden Superseries Premier title.

This win was Sindhu's third in six games against Sun. 

Olympic silver medallist Sindhu edged past Sung ji Hyun of South Korea to advance to the final of the China Superseries Premier badminton tournament in China on Saturday.

The Indian seventh seed lost the first game 11-21 but fought back to snatch the next two games 23-21, 21-19. The thrilling encounter lasted an hour and 24 minutes.
