Outlook magazine apologises after app slammed for tweeting from user accounts without permission

Written by : TNM Staff

Outlook Magazine on Sunday issued an apology after some of its users complained that their twitter accounts were compromised after they chose to vote for the magazine’s social media award poll through its app.

The Outlook Social Media Awards handle tweeted out an apology stating that it regrets the inconvenience caused to its users. It said the development was the result of a hacking attempt by ‘‘some hackers’’ trying to ‘hijack’ the server. The magazine however, said that the glitch was fixed and said that no data was leaked from its database. It added that the ‘’read and write’’ access of the app was removed.

Twitter users had earlier hit out at the media house after some users found unauthorised tweets being sent from their accounts without their permission.
