In the wake of the CAG report which indicts Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s Purti Group of financial irregularities, the opposition has strongly demanded the minister’s resignation. The proceedings of the lower house of  Parliament was interrupted five times by the Opposition as the Union Transport Minister tried to issue a clarification. On Monday, Congress leader Pramod Tiwari said he has given a notice in the Rajya Sabha to discuss the alleged financial irregularities in the Purti Group. “It has been proved that Nitin Gadkari's Purti Company was involved in the scam. We will emphasize on this issue till the time Gadkari resigns from his post," the leader was quoted in a report in Business Standard. Gadkari’s attempts to clarify the allegations were futile as the opposition continued to protest over this issue and demanded that he be sacked, NDTV reported. The Rajya Sabha had to be adjourned five times in less than two hours due to the protests.
