Have info on PM Modi’s involvement in corruption: Rahul Gandhi’s sensational claim

Raking a fresh controversy following days of political deadlock at the Parliament, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi said on Wednesday that he had personal information on Prime Minister Narendra Modi which would prove he is corrupt.

“For the past month, we have been trying to hold a discussion in the parliament. But the government is not interested in having a discussion. The Prime Minister is personally terrified of me being allowed to open my mouth inside the Lok Sabha. Because I have information on the Prime Minister that will explode his balloon,” Rahul Gandhi told the media in the Parliament’s Central Hall.

He added that the entire Opposition was “unconditionally ready” to have a discussion in the Parliament and “requested” the government to allow the Opposition to speak in the Lok Sabha.

Speaking about demonetisation, a move Congress has been vocally critical about, Gandhi called the move as a “decision against the poor”. He also took a jibe at Modi’s address at the Global Citizen concert held in Mumbai and called it an act of running away.

“He (Prime Minister) cannot keep running away from the House to pop concerts and public meetings. He owes the country an explanation and owes the Opposition a space to speak in the Lok Sabha,” Gandhi said.

The Winter Session of the Parliament has been witnessing repeated disruptions by the Opposition over demonetisation and resumed on Wednesday after four days.

However, BJP leaders dismissed Gandhi’s allegations as baseless.

Speaking to national channel, Zafar Islam, a BJP leader said that no one takes Rahul Gandhi and his claims seriously.

“He has a habit of saying things without any proof so that he can be in the limelight. He speaks absolute nonsense,” Islam said.
