After former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s media adviser Sanjaya Baru called him ‘an accidental PM’, who had little control over his senior ministers, it is the turn of former Comptroller and Auditor General Vinod Rai to make unflattering revelations about the former regime and its Prime Minister.

Vinod Rai, whose book ‘Not just an accountant’ is all set to release next month told the Times of India that politicians used to come to his house and tell him not name people in connection with the CWG and coal allocation reports.

Vinod Rai says his book explains how the UPA government made decisions detrimental to the country’s economy, simply for the survival of its government.

Later, Vinod Rai told NDTV that the intention of writing a book was not to target anyone to find faults, but to raise governance issues.
Rai also told TOI that the real pressure came from the Parliament, during the Public Accounts Committee meeting.

Though Vinod Rai has claimed that politicians asked him not to disclose certain names, it remains to be seen if Rai himself will stop short at just saying ‘some politicians’ or will name them.

Previously, former coal secretary P C Parakh and former external affairs minister Natwar Singh have come out with similar tales about the UPA and Congress.
