Simply hitting the delete button to get rid of porn clips or images from the computer may not be of much use anymore. The Delhi Police is shopping for "porn detection sticks", which are USB devices with software that can recover pornographic content which has been deleted from the system, The Times of India reported.

Though the police says that they will use the devices to "fight cyber crime", those can also be used for nabbing paedophiles and those resorting to revenge porn, states the report. 

The TOI report states, "Sources say the software can scan computers for porn images, videos and chats even if these have been deleted. It detects and analyses faces, flesh tones, shapes and curves but leaves no trace of use. This makes it immensely useful in a developing case requiring secrecy , for instance a honeytrap probe. A police document accessed by TOI states the software will run on any 'compatible computer', suggesting that cracking an obscure operating system might prove a challenge."

According to an officer, the software can blur screens and delete images and videos permanently. The officer told TOI, "This will be useful in cases where a woman's profile or a person's computer has been hacked and flooded with pornographic material."

However porn detection sticks aren't the only devices that the police are looking for. They are also buying chat sticks that can trace hidden chat logs, add the report.
