Nitin Gadkari, rural development minister, hinted that it is likely that  some amendments in the Land acquisition act might be made soon.

This step will be taken to tackle the soaring land acquisition costs and procedural delays, states a recent report by Live Mint

Various state revenue ministers had a meeting with Gadkari following which these suggestions were made. These suggestions will be presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the next ten days, and if needed it will also be taken to the cabinet, Gadkari said.

However, no changes will be made to the sections of the law that deals with compensation, rehabilitation and resettlement.
