Image source: Amit Shah/FacebookPlagued by scams, including the recent Lalitgate and Vyapam scam, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems to be in damage control mode. On Monday, party president Amit Shah set up a special cell of media managers in the party to fight "false" campaigns in the media in the battle for perception, states a report in The Times of India. According to the report, the party's leadership felt that there is a need to tone up the party's media presence after the BJP goverment in several states has been facing flak from the Opposition over the scams. The new unit will be headed by former journalist and MP MJ Akbar and would be run by party secretary Shrikant Sharma. The others in the team will include party secretary Siddharth Nath Singh, spokesperson Anil Baluni and Sudesh Verma. The team will interact with journalist and media houses on issues where the party feels its stand has not been explained properly.
