Solar Scam: Former Kerala DGP claims Oommen Chandy not named in letter

Written by : TNM Staff

The original letter written by the prime accused Saritha S Nair, in the Kerala Solar scam, did not contain the name of Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, the former DGP of Kerala Jail has claimed on Friday.

Former DGP of Kerala Jail Alexander Jacob told the judicial commission probing the solar scam that he was informed by his jail staff about the letter, which had names of 13 VIPs and a senior police officer and was supposed to be handed over to the court.

According to a report in The Indian Express, he said that the original letter, which was written by the prime accused Saritha Nair was “spoiled” to cover up the names of several high profile politicians and officials who had allegedly abused her.

But the letter, which originally had 21 pages, was later reduced to 4 pages after a person visited her, and also surprisingly the letter did not have the name of Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, he added.

Jacob declared that the prison authorities had received 150 applications, including some from prominent politicians, for visiting her on her first day in Thiruvananthapuram jail.
