A study, presented by Dr Promodu's Institute of Sexual and Marital Health, Kochi has claimed at a national conference held recently that most of the sexual problems in men are linked to other health conditions, like whether the person has diabetes and blood pressure.

 

According to The Times of India, the study says that about 60% of 15,357 patients studied had an undetected medical condition that sexual dysfunction is a multidimensional condition, involving biological, psychological, interpersonal and socio-cultural factors, and causes could be psychogenic, physical or mixed.

 

The study also says diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease, thyroid disorder and pituitary adenoma were among the medical conditions detected in sexual dysfunction patients.

 

As per TOI report Dr K Promodu, who conducted the study, said that most of the patients go to quacks or wrong doctors for sexual health conditions. Instead, he says that people needed to made more aware of approaching the right doctors.

 

“We had detected patients with underlying heart condition and referred them to cardiologists for treatment. The blood flow to genitals is blocked first, the condition worsens slowly,” he said.
