The News Minute| September 11, 2014| 1.00 pm ISTThe Supreme Court has stayed the Kerala Government’s new liquour policy till 30 September and asked the Kerala High Court to speed up the hearing of the case filed by bar owners. The Kerala government had passed an order to close down all non-5-star bars in the state by 11 PM on Wednesday. The bar owners of the state had approached the apex court and the Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed the order till today.   The apex court has today extended the stay till 30 September. It has also asked the government not to take coercive steps for limiting the bar licenses to 5-star hotels alone.A case had already been filed by bar owners in the Kerala High Court.
