The prime accused in the 2017 Kerala actor assault case, Pulsar Suni, was taken into custody by the Kerala police on Sunday, February 23, for threatening and breaking the glass table in a hotel in Rayamangalam in Ernakulam district. The Kuruppampady police have registered a first information report (FIR) under Sections 296b (obscene acts and songs), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 324(4) (mischief) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Suni was out on bail with stringent conditions since September 20, 2024.
According to the FIR, Suni was irked by the delay in taking his order and used abusive language against the hotel workers. Further, he had also allegedly broken the glass top of a table.
When TNM contacted the Kuruppampady police, they said that though he has been arrested under bailable offences, it is unclear if he can be released because of his bail conditions.
The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court imposed stringent bail conditions after the Supreme Court granted him bail. The top court observed that he was incarcerated for more than seven and a half years and that the progress in the case was slow.
One of the bail conditions was that he would not get involved in any other offences. The other conditions included barring him from attempting to contact, threaten or intimidate the victim, prosecution witnesses and other accused in the case, or contacting or giving any information to the media.
