The Kerala Home and Education departments have conducted meeting with Kerala student unions in the backdrop of various incidents in college campuses, including CET issue which claimed the life of a girl student and the recent New Man’s college clash between students and police.

 

In the meeting Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said that he does not support police entering campus unless college management asks for it.

 

Earlier in a meeting of college principals and Vice chancellors chaired by Ramesh Chennithala and Education Minister Abdu Rabb, a proposal to allow police to enter campuses when necessary and weed out trouble makers from the campuses was mooted. The meeting had also proposed police raids in campus and student hostels when needed.

 

In the meeting with students union, many regulations have been suggested by the government.

Asianet News reports that Home and Education department has put forward a set of rules including, prior permission for campus celebrations, mandatory identity card and also advised not to bring outside troops for DJ parties inside campus.

 

Government also suggested some timings for union activities inside the campus.
