The News Minute | July 2, 2014 | 1:08 PM IST According to various reports, the situation of the 46 nurses from Kerala who are stuck in Tikrit, Iraq is worsening day by day.  The nurses are now spending their time inside the basement of the hospital, the families say. They were reportedly last offered rice and pulses along with water on Monday. The nurses who earlier used to be in touch with the media, are not attending calls any more. However, one of the families The News Minute contacted said that there is no shortage of food as of now.The News Minute spoke to a parent of one of the nurses stranded in Tikrit. "There are many nurses from Bangladesh and some ISIS militants too in the hospital. My daughter told me that there are two rooms in the basement. They are taking turns in using these rooms. Last night some of the Bangladeshi nurses slept in the basement rooms and some of the Indian nurses slept in the rooms on another floor. Apparently two buildings next to the hospital have been completely destroyed," the parents told us.Situation is getting tense now after groups bombed buildings just next to the hospital, on Sunday and Monday. It is after this that the nurses moved to the basement of another building in the hospital. The electricity to the basement is right now coming from generators.
