A man from Kerala who allegedly murdered another, has now attempted suicide. Last week, a young man, Sujith, was bludgeoned to death in Irinjalakuda in Thrissur, after he confronted another man, Midhun, who was allegedly stalking Sujith’s cousin.

On Saturday, Midhun was found with his veins cut in the compound of the stalking victim’s house.

Midhun had been absconding ever since Sujith’s murder. The 28-year-old has been admitted to a private hospital in Thrissur. The police said that his condition is stable.

“He was seen on the premises of the girl’s house in the morning. We haven’t recorded his arrest yet, but he is under police surveillance,” Irinjalakuda  Circle Inspector Suresh Kumar told TNM.

The police couldn’t trace Midhun when he was on the run. “As per the final information we had got, he had crossed the border into Andhra Pradesh. He might have come back knowing about the death of Sujith. His condition is stable now, we are yet to record his statement,” he added.

Midhun is an auto rickshaw driver at the Irinjalakuda Bus Station.

Sujith confronted Midhun for allegedly stalking and harassing his cousin. Midhun allegedly hit Sujith on the head with an iron bar, kicked him in the chest. He even banged Sujith’s head on the ground after he collapsed on the road. The incident happened at the Muncipal Bus Stand in Thrissur on Sunday evening.

26-year-old Sujith was hospitalised with serious injuries and he succumbed on Wednesday. He is the son of Puthukkattil Venugopal and Aruna.

The police has booked Midhun under IPC sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC.
