After People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader and accused in the Bengaluru blast case Abdul Nasser Madani, announced that he will not be attending his son’s wedding, as he does not have Rs 14 lakh to spend on his security, Kerala government has offered to take care of his security.

Allowing his plea, the Supreme Court had ruled that Madani can stay in Kerala from August 7 to August 14 to attend the wedding of his elder son to be held on August 9 in Thalassery.

However, the court has asked Madani to bear all the expenses for the trip that would otherwise be incurred by the state government for providing him security. Karnataka has asked Rs 14 lakh to provide security for Madani in Kerala. Later, Madani informed that he will not be able to spend so much money to attend the wedding. He also requested prayers from his well-wishers and also announced that he will not be accepting any donations or help from any of them in this regard.

Following which,  Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in his letter to Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah wrote that Kerala would offer security to Madani. 

In 2013 to 2016 Madani had visited Kerala three times but the police had not charged him for security.

Madani had moved the apex court after the NIA court rejected his plea on July 24. The trial court partly allowed Madani’s application under Section 439(1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, permitting him to visit his mother in Kerala for a week in August, but had denied him permission to attend his son’s wedding.
