Kerala: Director of environment and climate change writes to govt seeking extension of tenure

The News Minute | July 7, 2014| 8:20 AM ISTP Sreekantan Nair, the director of environment and climate change directorate in environment department wrote to theadditional chief secretary for an extension of his tenure. Last week, the state government cancelled his deputation, but no reason was disclosed. He was to be sent back to the Pollution Control Board. There were already criticisms that he was not qualified for the post and that he is receiving a sizeable amount as salary for no reason. They said that Nair was just an environmental assistant scientist at the pollution control board, while the qualification for his present post is a master's degree in environmental sciences and also 15 years' experience.
