In a shocking incident, the Assistant Officer of Poojappura District Prison in Thiruvananthapuram was found dead on Friday night, raising suspicions of foul play. Joshin Das, the 27-year-old jail warden, had been missing since Thursday night.

On Friday, he was found dead in his new house, which is under construction in Perumkadavila near Neyyattinkara in Thiruvananthapuram district. Preliminary investigations have revealed evidence of struggle near the site of death, say reports.

"He (Joshin) comes home every day…Suddenly he didn't come back yesterday. We called everybody and then finally we reached this place (the house) at 11 am and two people informed us that this is what happened," Joshin's father, Sudheesh, told Mathrubhumi News.

According to reports, Joshin's hands and mouth were tied using ropes.

"Joshin entered service in April 2016 and for over two years was serving in the district prison. His records are clean and his service was without black marks. We are not aware of any bad company he kept and suicide is something that we have ruled out for now. Also, it we have found out that his hands and mouth were tied up from the preliminary investigations," said Sathyaraj, the District Jail Superintendent who Joshin reported to.

Investigations into his death is currently on and the case is being probed by the Neyyatinkara station DySP Hari Kumar and team.
