According to reports, the Kerala police has reportedly taken into custody a key suspect in the case of the rape and murder of Jisha in Perumbavoor. A native of Assam, he was taken into custody from Kochi, along with four other associates, who are also in custody.

The suspect is reportedly being interrogated by the police at an undisclosed location, and has apparently confessed to carrying out the murder.

Manorama reported that the breakthrough in the case was arrived by tracing clues about a man who went to a photo studio with Jisha on March 15.

Mathrubhumi reported that the man was identified by the owner of a footwear store, from which the suspect had purchased a pair of slippers.

Speaking to reporters at the Aluva Police Club on Thursday afternoon, ADGP Sandhya, the head of the team investigating the case, said that a DNA test on the suspect had matched evidence found on the scene.

The Kerala Chief Minister had earlier in the day confirmed that the key suspect has been nabbed, and had congratulated the police on the breakthrough.
