Had asked Mohanlal to oust Dileep from AMMA’: Kerala minister AK Balan

Written by : TNM Staff

Days after AMMA accepted actor Dileep’s resignation, Kerala Minister AK Balan says that he had spoken to AMMA President Mohanlal asking him to oust Dileep, who is an accused in the rape and abduction case of an actor, from the association. Balan, speaking at a press conference, had said that apart from requesting the leadership to remove Dileep, he had asked them to constitute an internal committee (ICC) to hear complaints and to provide financial and legal help to the survivor, according to Manorama news.

In an interview with the media, AMMA spokesperson Jagadeesh had said that they would welcome the government’s decision to intervene in the issue of Dileep’s resignation and help AMMA in taking a call on the issue.

Balan stated that a discussion was held with AMMA President Mohanlal to reach a consensus. The government will extend its support to actor Padmapriya in the case she has moved in the High Court. The government also said that they will take all measures to present her case in a better manner in the High Court.

He said that the conflict within the film industry should not affect it adversely. Both AMMA and the WCC will have to take steps to resolve the matter and move forward on the issue, Balan added in his press meet.

After days of protests by the WCC, actor Dileep, accused of masterminding the abduction and sexual assault of a prominent woman actor, tendered his resignation from the organisation last week. Mohanlal told the media during a press conference that he had personally called Dileep and asked him to tender his resignation. "He readily gave it and his resignation was accepted," Mohanlal had said.
