The Sullia police in Mangaluru have registered a case against a first class judicial magistrate from Kasargod for allegedly abusing an auto-rickshaw driver and subsequently creating ruckus in an inebriated state. 

The New Indian Express reports that Unnikrishnan VK engaged an auto-rickshaw driver after he got off a bus coming from Kukke Subramanya. After the driver was not able to understand where Unnikrishnan wanted to go, he allegedly abused the driver and manhandled him.

The driver then headed to Sullia police station with the magistrate, who reportedly abused two constables and damaged property in the police station. The police said that Unnikrishnan created ruckus even in the hospital where he was taken for medical examination.

The Karnataka police then ascertained Unnikrishnan’s identity after contacting the Kasargod police and the latter was sent to the district circuit house with protection.

He has been booked for criminal intimidation, voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful restraint, and insulting with the intention to prove breach of peace.

The police also registered a second case against Unnikrishnan, for assaulting and causing hurt to deter a public servant from his duty.
