Casting couch scandal in Kerala: Five including parents found guilty of sexually exploiting 14-yr-old girl

The News Minute| June 25, 2014| 4.30 pm ISTA trial court here in Kerala on Wednesday held five people, including the victim’s parents and three others guilty in the Paravoor sex-scandal case.The case relates to the sexual exploitation of a 14-yr-old girl in 2011 by offering her roles in upcoming films. There are around 52 cases registered in connection around 100 people who sexually exploited her. The victim's father Sudheer, middleman Manoj, assistant director Biju Narayanan, were held guilty in the seventh case. Another film producer Janata Vijayan and the victim's mother were indicted in the eighth case.The victim's father and the prime accused in the seventh case, Sudheesh has been sentenced to imprisonment for 14 years while Manoj has been sentenced to seven years of imprisonment. The father used to threaten the girl that if she did not oblige, he will harm her brother. Janata Vijayan and Biju Narayanan were also both sentenced to seven years imprisonment.The victim's mother got seven year sentence.
