Businessman Boby Chemmanur denied the allegation of sexual harassment against him levelled by actor Honey Rose. Speaking to Manorama News on Tuesday, January 7, he said that he did not have any ill intentions behind his comment or his actions with the actor and added that he was confused as to why the complaint was filed months after the event was held. Honey Rose, on January 7, filed a p olice complaint with the Ernakulam Central Police Station, accusing Boby of continuous obscene abuse.
“It is true that I compared Honey Rose to Kunti Devi from the Mahabharata, but there was no double meaning behind it. Calling someone Kunti Devi is not inappropriate. Several people on social media misconstrued what I said and maybe that caused her discomfort… It is also true that I adorned her with a necklace and danced with her, but these are usual things that happen for promotion. It has happened with several other people also. I did not force her to dance with me or anything. Both of us did not have any ill intention behind it and she also did not raise any objection to it at that time,” he said.
Though she did not name anybody in her initial post on January 5 about the alleged sexual harassment, in the next one she addressed Bobby Chemmanur and said, “There will be complaints against your associates also soon, who seem to share your mental state. You may believe in the power of your money, but I believe in the strength of the judicial system of India.” In an interview with TNM, Honey Rose spoke about the abuse and its effects on her, and her decision to stand up to the abusers.
Many people posted derogatory comments below her initial post, forcing Honey Rose to file a complaint on January 5. Based on her complaint, the police have booked 27 individuals, including Boby Chemmanur. The allegations include obscene and derogatory comments posted under Honey Rose’s social media posts.
