4-year-old Saudi boy drowns in Kumarakom resort pool in Kerala

In a tragic incident, a four-year-old Saudi boy died in a swimming pool at a plush resort in Kerala's famed Kumarakom tourist spot on Thursday.

The child has been identified as Hamidaddin Alaadin Ibrahim.

He is the son of Hamid Albin Fatima Adbul Rahman and Hamidaddin Ibrahim Abdul Rahman. 

The family belongs to Jiddha in Saudi Arabia and had came to Kumarakom - known for its backwaters and serene beauty in the district of Kottayam, two days ago.

The incident took place around 7 in the evening. 

“The group is of six or seven people. According to the statement given by the resort manager, the child was playing with other children in their group. The parents were also in the premises. He drowned after he slipped into the water,” Kumarakom police told TNM.

Postmortem was conducted at the Medical College Hospital Kottayam. 

The body will be flown to Saudi Arabia after the formalities  are completed. 

The boy was in a baby pool and his father was at the pool for adults when the incident occurred.

The boy's father told the media that there was an electricity leakage in the pool and that might have caused the death.
