Several areas in south eastern Bengaluru experienced an hour-long power cut on Monday morning. Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) took to Twitter to state the power cuts were caused after lines at a major power station tripped in the city. The power was interrupted around 9.30 am on Monday and though BESCOM stated that the power will be restored by 10.45 am, several areas continued to have no electricity till around 11.30 am.
A BESCOM spokesperson told TNM that the power station Hoodi is the major station in southern Bengaluru. “There are three major ICTs. Two of them were tripped at night around 9:30 which led to huge power outage in southern Bengaluru. This was unscheduled and not an expected one. These ICTs are restored and one by one we need to charge the lines,” the spokesperson said. Hoodi feeds electricity to almost 50 per cent of southern Bengaluru.
In a release, BESCOM stated: “This is to keep you informed that there is an Interruption S3,S4,S5,S7,S17, E2 E3 E6 & E10 Subdivisions, 220KV HAL Station Incoming Supply Failure Due to 400KV Hoodi Line 1 Tripped (Down streams Amrjyothi, B Station, Leela Ventur, Golf Link, Bagamane, Isro, HAL Kadubeesanhalli).”
“This is to keep you informed that there is an Interruption S1,S2,S4,S8,S11,S13, S16,S20 & VE1 Subdivisions, 220KV HSR Station Incoming Supply Failure due to 400KV Hood Line-1 Tripped (Down Streams St Johns Wood, Adugodi, Nimhans Naganathapura) Power supply will be restored at 1045 Hrs (Approximately) (U/S),” BESCOM added in another release.
The areas that have been affected are:
Austin town, Murugeshpalya, Koramangala, Maratahalli, Kundalahalli, B station, Ulsoor, Indiranagar, Jeevan Beema Nagar, Kaggadasapura, HAL, Munnekollal Panther, and surrounding areas.
Adugodi, Koramangala, Bommanahalli, Hongasandra, Bellandur, Singasandra, Agraha, Veerasandra Jayanagar, Jayanagar 4th T Block, Veerasandra Kasavanahalli, and surrounding areas.
Lingarajapuram, CookeTown, Frazer Town, Benson Town, Venkateshpuram, White Field, Mahadevapura, Hoodi, Pai Layout, Kaggadasapura, Kasturi nagar, Indiranagar, HAL 2nd stage, HAL and surrounding areas.
