Saffron brigade takes the law into their own hands in Mangaluru

1.Some of the thirteen persons arrested in Babugudde in Attavara on Monday evening were from Hindu right wing fringe groups. The Times of India reported that they had been booked under IPC Section 307(attempt to murder) ad Section 397 (dacoity and robbery) after they allegedly assaulted a 27-year old man.

2.The National Highway Authority of India blamed the Yeshwanthpur traffic police for allegedly having dug up the Tumkur without permission a month ago to lay some cables. This was after a nine-year old boy died on Sunday, as he was run over by a private bus when his mother swerved their two-wheeler to avoid a crater on the Tumkur road. 3.Namma Metro plans to complete land acquisition for phase II of Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. project  before phase I is completed. BMRCL has issued notification for R.V. Road Terminal to Central Silk Board as well as submitted notification of land from Centra Silk Board Bommasandra with a depot at Hebbagodu to KIADB. Read details.

4.Appointment of IAS officer, Jaffer, as the Registrar of Karnataka Lokayukta has been stayed. A division bench headed by acting Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee passed the order on Tuesday, on a PIL that was filed by advocate R Ananda Murthy. Read more from The Hindu report.

5.Karnataka BJP won the BBMP elections on Tuesday. BJP secured 100 out of 198 seats, Congress got 76, JD(S) got 14 seats and 8 seats for independent and other candidates. Read The News Minute report.
