Man arrested for triple-murder of woman, family, over spurned advances

Karnataka police arrested a man on Thursday for allegedly killing three persons of the same family in Ramnagara district.

Speaking to The News Minute, Ramanagara Dy SP Laxmi Ganesha said Basavraju Bhovi allegedly killed Gowramma (42), her father Maregowda (70) and daughter Sukanya (16) on Tuesday. The incident occurred in Bheemanakuppe village in Harohalli police station limits.

Police arrested Bhovi from a village in Tamil Nadu and the motive for the murders is still unclear.

There are several versions on what happened.

Lakshmi Ganesh told the accused wanted have a physical relationship with Gowramma and attacked her with sharp weapons when she resisted. He said that when her father intervened, Bhovi killed him and her daughter.

Police are investigating if any of the victims were sexually assaulted before their murder. Lakshmi Ganesh said that the post-mortem report would help them establish the nature of the murder weapon.

According to The New Indian Express, relatives informed the police on finding the three bodies in the living room in a pool of blood.
