Anupama Shenoy, former deputy superintendent of police in Ballari district, whose resignation attracted a lot of attention, has alleged mental harassment by senior officials in the police department,  in a complaint to women’s commission.

In her complaint addressed to Manjula Manasa, president of Karnataka State Commission for Women, she has accused the director general of police and superintendent of police in Ballari district, however she does not go in to the details of harassment, reported The Times of India.

“They always put me under pressure which resulted in mental harassment,“ she said, without going into details about the harassment. “I wrote two resignation letters ­ one stating personal reasons and the second one explaining the real problem. But the department accepted the resignation for personal reasons and sent the other one back to me,” she said.

She accused the department of not following any procedure while accepting her resignation and has sought an explanation.

“They are supposed to give me 90 days time and higher officials are supposed to counsel me. Nothing happened in my case. In the last election when there was a code of conduct in place, I was sent on leave by the DGP,” she said.

She said that the cause of her resignation was internal issues that were difficult to deal with.
