I did not send MLAs on tour, helpless if they decided to go: Siddaramaiah

The News Minute| September 19, 2014| 1.20 pm ISTKarnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah says he is helpless and cannot do much about 15 Karnataka MLAs on a 17 day Europe tour. The Chief Minister has come under criticism for allowing MLAs to go on a foreign tour at a time when some districts in Karnataka were facing a flood situation. There have also been allegations that the tour was funded by someone close to the Chief Minister and the decision to allow MLAs to go on a tour was to placate some of them who were miffed at not getting cabinet posts. Siddaramaiah refuted the allegations that he had funded the tour.Read- Venice, Rome, Paris on Karnataka MLAs' Euro Extravaganza itineraryThe News Minute has a copy of the itinerary which lists out the elaborate tour. MLAs from Karnataka, along with their family members, will first make a wish at the Trevi Fountain in Rome, then take a trip to the Vatican City, marvel at the leaning tower of Pisa and admire Venice and Florence. Next, they will cool their heels in the Austrian Alps, get dazzled at the Swarovski museum in Austria, enjoy a boat ride at the Rhine Falls in Germany, a romantic cruise on the River Rhine, visit an enchanting traditional town in Holland and then arrive at the glamour capital of the world, Paris.After all this, it is Disney Time for the MLAs who will visit the Disney Studios in Europe, pose with wax statues the next day in Madam Tussaud’s museum and after a sojourn in London they will fly to Dubai for some more sightseeing.
