H D Kumaraswamy’s wish granted, another FIR filed against him

Written by : TNM

Earlier this week, Janata Dal (Secular) leader H D Kumaraswamy dared the police to file FIRs against him, instead of targeting BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa. Well, the Lokayukta appears to have granted his wish. The Lokayukta police filed an FIR against him on Saturday in connection with the de-notification of land in the Thanisandra area of Bengaluru. The anti-corruption watchdog appears to also filed yet another FIR against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa for alleged illegal de-notification in the Kothanur area, bringing the total number of cases against the Lingayat leader up to 15. In an interview with The News Minute on Tuesday, Kumaraswamy appeared upset that the Lokayukta was targeting Yeddyurappa when so many cases had already been filed against him. He had told The News Minute, “Yeddyurappa has suffered a lot psychologically, so filing more FIRs against him will not serve any purpose.”  It is unclear just how many FIRs have been filed against Kumaraswamy, but the Times of India reported in May that the Lokayukta had filed cases against both Kumaraswamy and Yeddyurappa, accusing them of collusion in a de-notification case. The two former chief ministers have had a colourful history, playing games to upset each other’s chances at power. But while maintaining fierce enmity in public (including allegations of black magic from both sides), is this a case of you-scratch-my-back-I’ll-scratch-yours in private?
