The News Minute | February 3, 2015 | 5.43 pm ISTIrrespective of whether Guinness approves the request, the fact that such a request for a world record was made, is a record by itself.An association of private schools has written to the Guinness Book of World records asking them to include politicians in Karnataka for hypocrisy. Irked by the Karnataka state government’s move to make Kannada the medium of instruction in all primary schools including private ones, the Karnataka Unaided Schools Managements’ Association (KUSMA) has written to Guinness.Lawyer representing KUSMA K V Dhananjay said in a press statement: “The Karnataka Cabinet has unanimously come out with a new plan to ban English medium in primary education across all schools in the State. A similar Government plan made twenty years ago met with a decisive failure last year and this attempt too is legally doomed to meet the same failure in courts.However, it would be very difficult to not notice the hypocrisy here - Karnataka Ministers and plenty of Karnataka Politicians send all of their children and grandchildren only to English medium schools and yet, they still want to ban English medium for everybody else’s children. It would take tremendous shamelessness and moral bankruptcy for any politician to publicly say that he wants to ban for the public, the very thing that the public already knows that he has chosen for his children and grandchildren.”Claiming that he had seen the rules of eligibility that the records keeper sought, Dhananjay further added that the politicians of the state would easily fit the criteria and set a record for “moral bankruptcy and public shamelessness”.Tweet
