Hundreds of passengers were left stranded at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru after fog delayed operations of 54 flights on Thursday.
It was reported that the dense fog had caused delays in flight departure for the third day in a row. According to airport authorities, 36 flights scheduled for departure were delayed on Thursday and 17 flights due for arrival, were also delayed. BlueDart airlines from Mumbai has been diverted to Chennai.
A visibility standby which was issued at 5:52 am was withdrawn at 9:08 am. Such a standby is declared when the visibility decreases to below 2500 meters.
Several passengers took to social media to complain about the situation. One traveller, Vibha Jain, took to twitter and posted that IndiGo refused to let children use the washroom and didn’t offer the passengers who were stuck aboard the flight any proper food or water.
“Flight was supposed to take off at 7:55 AM , you made a tweet 2 hours ago which is 10 AM. Wow. What compensate you gave- school picnic box. Passengers were forced to seated in plane for 3 hours. Kids were not allowed to use washroom. Passenger literally tired asking for water,” she had stated.

Others too took to several platforms to express their displeasure at being stranded for hours on board a flight.
IndiGo reportedly replied to the complaints stating that bad weather had resulted in the delay of operations.
Earlier, it was reported that on Wednesday evening, a system failure resulted in several airlines being forced to issue passengers handwritten boarding passes. Several travellers were stuck waiting in long lines for over two hours as a result. It was corrected after 7pm, though several passengers did take to social media platforms to complain about the inconvenience.
