Five including minor arrested for gang-raping Mangaluru minor girl ​

Mangaluru police arrested four men and a minor boy for allegedly gang-raping a minor girl on Monday.

The incident came to light on Monday when the girl narrated the story to her mother who found her unusually depressed. With the help of members of Mangaluru Mahila Shakti, a women’s group, and she lodged a complaint with Kavoor police, reported The New Indian Express.

The newspaper reported that Prashanth Shetty (23), Nowfal (23), Salman (20), Suresh (20), and a minor boy were arrested following the complaint by inspector Umesh Kumar and they will be produced in court.

According to the police, the girl had been harassed by Prashanth, who is the key accused in the case and the girl's neighbour, wanted to have a physical relationship and also promised to marry her.

On Sunday, Prashanth reportedly asked the girl to come to Panjimogaru area as he had something important to discuss. He sent the minor accused to pick her up.

At the location she saw the three others with Prashanth, who allegedly made her drink fruit juice and raped her till she fainted. The gang later threatened her against telling anyone about what had happened and if she did, she would have to face the consequences.

The police told The News Minute that the girl would be sent to the hospital for medical tests on Tuesday.
