Body of woman found near Nandi hills, her two-year-old son still untraceable

Written by : TNM Staff

A decomposed body of a 25-year-old woman was found at Tipu’s drop in Nandi hills near Bengaluru by Chikkaballapur police on Saturday. However, her 2-year-old son, who was reportedly last seen with her, is still missing.

Though prima facie it looks like Prateeksha committed suicide, dowry harassment angle is also being probed, reported The New Indian Express.

According to TNIE report, a security guard in Nandi hills saw a pair of slippers at Tipu Drop on Saturday morning and informed Chikkaballapur police. After a 6-hour search, the police found the woman’s body 2km down the hill.

“As there are no CCTV cameras near Tipu Drop or other places, we are gathering information from people who were at the spot on Friday evening. We have also sent a photograph of the child to other police stations,” said an investigating officer.

Prateeksha, wife of Suman, a businessman in Gauribidanur, had reportedly left her house in Bagepalli with her son on Friday to meet a friend, reported TOI.

However, Suman, who is since absconding, did not bother to register a missing complaint about his wife and child in any police station. Prateeksha’s parents were called to the spot to identify the body.

The police are on the lookout for the deceased’s husband and a case against him has been registered in Chikkaballapur police station.

TNIE reported that earlier Prateeksha’s father Nagaraj had filed a police complaint that his daughter was being harassed by her husband and his family members for dowry, based on which the dowry harassment angle is being probed.
