Following a 20-year-old boy's suicide in Bidar on Sunday, the police have arrested four students from the engineering college he studied in.

Sachin Kumar, who was pursuing his 3rd semester civil engineering at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College in Bidar, hung himself from a ceiling fan of his house, reported ToI.

Sachin lost his mother when he was very young and lived with his maternal uncle in Vidya Nagar colony.

In a six-page suicide note recovered, the boy alleged that he was being forced to take drugs by four people in his college.

The police have arrested Munaf Fazim, Anjali Swamy, M. Toufiq and Azar Khan, who were named in the note, on charges of abetment to suicide. They have also taken two others for interrogation, reported The Hindu.

According to The Times of India report, the boy has accused the four people of trying to extort money from him as well. When he could not bear the harassment, he took his life, a police officer said.

Siddram Shetkar, his uncle said he had observed that Sachin used to be groggy and droopy sometimes, however, he didn’t ask why, reports ToI.

However, Superintendent of Police Prakash Nikam said that nothing was clear yet, reported The Hindu.

“We are looking at various angles, including ragging, humiliation by friends, indebtedness or substance abuse,” he said.

In his suicide note, Sachin has even alleged that some people had made an attempt on his life twice. ToI reports that Sachin in his letter said that he had been assaulted by a senior with a sharp object. However, he refrained from filing a police complaint since he was under the foster care of his maternal uncle and grandparents.
