The Banaswadi police in Bengaluru arrested a dance teacher from the city for allegedly raping a 23-year-old student, after promising to marry her.

It the complaint filed by the woman has now got 35-year-old Christopher behind bars. Christopher is an aerobic instructor hailing from Kerala, a report in The Times  of India says. He is also known by the names Christi and Christiano, states the report.

The woman, reportedly a dance teacher herself, had approached Christopher in 2014 to learn aerobics.

“She spotted an advertisement board outside Christopher's dance school and joined classes in 2014," the police reportedly said. In the course of the next two years, the duo reportedly became close to each other and Christopher raped her promising to marry her later. However, a year later in 2017, Christopher began to avoid her, the woman said in her complaint.

She proceeded to file a rape case against the dance teacher.

Earlier in May last year, a 21-year-old dance teacher was booked under POCSO for allegedly abusing a minor student.
