Bengaluru: Chain snatcher with ornaments worth Rs 27 lakh nabbed

A notorious chain snatcher from an inter-state gang wanted in several cases was arrested on Wednesday by Central Crime Branch sleuths of the City police.

Hyder Syed Noor Irani (24), a member of the interstate Irani gang, hails from Pune, police said, adding that, during the probe he revealed his involvement in about 25 cases.

They said 900 grams of gold and ornaments worth Rs 27 lakh have been recovered from the accused, and he has been remanded to judicial custody.

The operation to nab Hyder was conducted by the organised crime wing of the CCB police in coordination with Bengaluru West Division Police.

Officials said that Hyder used to identify women walking on the road and on finding an opportunity used to snatch their chain and escape on a two-wheeler.

He is involved in chain snatching related incidents in Bengaluru and other cities of the state, police said.
