Aurangabad-Hyderabad passenger train derails in Karnataka, no injuries reported

The engine and three coaches of the Aurangabad-Hyderabad passenger train derailed near Bidar in Karnataka early on Wednesday morning.

"The Hyderabad bound train rolled off the tracks between Kalgapur and Bhalki stations around 1.45 a.m. in Bidar district," South Central Railway spokesperson Umashankar Kumar M told IANS.

"The engine and four coaches of the train derailed," he said.

The passengers were shifted to the rear portion of the train and were brought to Kalgapur station.

"A high level five-member committee has been formed to inquire into the cause of derailment," he added.

Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, South Central Railway rushed to the spot along with other officials.

After detaching the derailed coaches, the remaining 8 coaches were moved to Kalagapur Railway station.

Special buses were arranged to transport the passengers from Kalagapur to Bidar railway station. Bidar-Hyderabad intercity express was rescheduled to accommodate the passengers of derailed train, an official of South Central Railway (SCR) said.

The Bidar-Hyderabad Express and the Bengaluru-Nanded Express have been rescheduled and diverted, respectively due to the derailment.
