Written by : TNM

The News Minute | February 11, 2015 | 8.30 pm ISTCongress MLA from Thrithala in Kerala V T Balram wrote a long Facebook post on Tuesday saying that the failure faced by his party in Delhi was expected, but still painful. He explained the need for a sincere and in depth internal analysis of the Congress party for the sake of its future. Balram is of the opinion that it is time to observe people’s perception on the party along with its principles.“Though the failure was expected, it is painful that Congress could not win even one seat,” he wrote. He warned the Congress that people don’t have blind faith in any political party anymore and the age of ‘loyal voting’ has ended. He says, “Congress should know that party loyalty based voting has now changed to intelligent voting where people analyze the local activities”He opined that even Congress voters chose the AAP this time, keeping aside their loyalties.“The Congress should present itself not just as a grand old party, but as a brand new party, which can face the current challenges for better democracy” he asserted. He has also pointed that politics should not be revolving around a single person or a family.“Rather than following the old custom of depending a lot on a single person or a family, the need of the hour is to reorganise the party on the basis of ideals that our party leaders had espoused at various times, but are still relevant,” he said in his post.He adds that those who ask for a 'Congress Mukt Bharat' are actually thriving to set aside the secularist ideologies introduced by the Congressand instead rule the country on communal lines. Balram also observed that though the BJP got just 3 seats, its failure can be considered worse than that of the Congress', as according to him BJP expected victory.“Delhi results are a judgment on Modi government. Though there were communal moves, like Shahi Imam approaching Kejriwal to fish in troubled waters, it is appreciable that AAP rejected it,” he says.Tweet
