Viral photo of bloody shoe, not from Peshawar school attack

Written by : TNM

The News Minute| December 17, 2014| 12.20 pm ISTA photo of a hand holding a small pink shoe, blood stained and torn went viral on Tuesday after the horrific attack at the army school in Peshawar, Pakistan. The photo was widely circulated on Twitter and Facebook, but it seems neither the shoe nor the photo are from the Peshawar attack. In a BBC report, the news agency searched for the photo online and found a photo of the same shoe, but in a different setting on the European Pressphoto Agency website. The shoe, they claimed, was photographed in 2008 in Israel after a rocket was fired by Palestine into Israel. The EPA however, said they had no copyright over the photo of the hand holding the shoe. But the shoe is unmistakably from the Israel-Palestinian conflict. The origins of it however, are still unknown. Tweet
