The shooting of the Mammootty starrer Maamaankam recommenced recently after a break. While the film has the mega star Mammootty playing the lead role, it also has Unni Mukundan in a pivotal role. The young actor confirmed the news on Facebook, posting that he would be joining the sets of Maamaankam.

The film is a historical based on a medieval fair for warriors and it is presumed that Unni Mukundan will be playing a warrior in it as well. The film has four female leads - Prachi Desai, Prachi Tehlan, Malavika Menon and Abhirami V Iyer in the cast and those playing supporting roles include Unni Mukundan, Neeraj Madhav, Sunil Sukhada, Meghanathan and Sohan Seenulal.

Sajeev Pillai is donning the director’s robes for this film with Ganesh Rajavelu aka Jim Ganesh wielding the camera, M Jayachandran scoring the music, Sreekar Prasad in charge of the editing, and Kaecha Khamphakdee choreographing the stunts. It is being bankrolled by Venu Kunnampilly under the banner Kavya Films.

The film revolves around the life of warriors known as Chaaverukal, who plot against the Zamorin ruler to overthrow them.

While Unni Mukundan is busy with this Maamankam, he is also expecting the release of Mikhael, which has Nivin Pauly in the lead. Unni would reportedly be playing the character Marco Jr. The film is scheduled to hit the silver screens on January 18th. It is directed by Haneef Adeni and bankrolled by Joseph Anto under his banner Anto Joseph Film Company.

Apart from these two films, Unni Mukundan has a slew of Malayalam films in his kitty including Chocolate Story Retold  and Chengazhi Nambiar and he has also gone on to sign a new Tamil film. The actor is not new to the Tamil film audiences as his debut was with the Dhanush starrer Seedan.
