See what's left behind when you photoshop men out of these images

What would happen if all the chief ministers of 29 Indian states were posing for a photograph and someone photoshopped it to remove the men? There’d be just four women – 13 percent – heading India’s states.

Elle magazine has come up with a great video that discusses a key feminist demand – to have more women in all spheres of public life. Among the many images that it has photoshopped, is one of the British Parliament, which shows very few women when the men are gone.

One key and very solitary figure who crops up more than once is German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who had to suffer the ignominy of being edited out of an image when the world’s heads of state were protesting the attack on Charlie Hebdo.

 But watch the video, it has a way of putting things into perspective better than any number crunching can:
