Rakul Preet signed Mahesh Babu’s film without listening to script

Written by : TNM

It was A.R Murugadoss’s name alone that convinced Rakul Preet Singh to sign Mahesh Babu’s next bilingual project. Apparently, the actress didn’t even bother listening to the script and jumped at the opportunity.

Talking to New Indian Express, she said, “I didn’t listen to the script, but got on board, well, because it’s Murugadoss sir! I’m sure he’d have something solid for me. I’m so glad that I got this project as I’ve always wanted to work with him. It’s like a dream come true. We start shooting from the end of August.”

Rakul had replaced Parineeti Chopra, who was originally cast as the leading lady. According to sources, it was over remuneration that Parineeti and Murugadoss had a fall out and the former’s loss became Rakul’s gain. Tipped to be a Rs 90 crore budget thriller, the film will be predominantly shot in Mumbai, and it will feature Mahesh in a never-before-seen avatar.

The makers are yet to finalize the antagonist and the rest of the supporting cast. Harris Jayaraj has been roped in to compose the music while Santosh Sivan will crank the camera. Interestingly, this is the first time Mahesh, Murugadoss and Rakul are working together.
