Rajini’s Kaala runs into trouble over copyright violation

Written by : TNM

The hype around the Rajinikanth starrer Kaala has been building up ever since it was announced. The first look poster of the film was released last week and it did create a positive buzz around the film. Kaala went on the floors in Mumbai last Sunday, May 28 and fans are eagerly expecting news about the film’s developments.

The latest on Kaala is that an assistant director, Raja Shekar, has filed a complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner alleging that the title and story of Kaala belongs to him. Police will be investigating the matter to find out if there is a copyright infringement.

Kaala is directed by Pa Ranjith, who had donned the director’s hat for the Rajinikanth starrer Kabali. This time around, the director has made out a gangster story for the Superstar and he will be seen playing the role of the Mumbai-based don Karikalan. Kaala has an impressive star cast with veterans like Nana Patekar and Samuthirakani included in the star cast. Huma Qureshi and Anjali Patil have been roped in to play the female leads in the movie. Others that have been signed on for important roles include Sukanya and Eswari Rao.

Kaala, a magnum opus, is being bankrolled by Rajini’s son-in-law and actor Dhanush under his home banner Wunderbar Films. Santosh Narayanan, who had worked with Pa Ranjith and Rajinikanth in Kabali, will be composing the tunes for this film with G Murali wielding the camera and A Sreekar Prasad taking charge at the editing table.

The film’s shooting will go on continuously for 40 days and the director is confident of completing the entire film in a single stretch.
