Actor turned director Prithviraj Sukumaran and writer-actor Murali Gopy had teamed up for Lucifer, which released on March 28th, and the film is doing well at the theatres. The climax of this film and interviews of Murali Gopy also gave an indication that Lucifer could be developed into a franchise. Well, it now looks like the ball has been set rolling for it.
In a Tweet, Prithiviraj wrote: “I guess when a thought that your writer puts into your head doesn’t let you sleep at 2:20 am..as a film maker..you know what you want to do next! Murali Gopy Why do you do this to me?”
Prithviraj’s tweet appears to suggest Murali and he are planning to tie up again for a movie.
Lucifer, which is Prithviraj’s debut directorial, has Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith, and the Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi in pivotal roles. Mohanlal played the character Stephen Nedumballi.
Those in the supporting roles include Kalabhavan Shajon, Sai Kumar, Saniya Iyappan, director Fazil, Giju John, Nyla Usha, Baiju, Sachin Khedekar, Suresh Menon and others. Prithviraj too plays a cameo in the film.
The technical crew of the film comprised Sujith Vaassudev for cinematography and Samjith for editing while Stephen Devassy is in charge of the music composition. Murali Gopy scripted a political thriller for Lucifer. The film was produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner Aashirvad Cinemas.
It may be noted here that well-known writer and trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai wrote an article that Lucifer was late director Rajesh Pillai’s project that was developed for Mohanlal seven years ago but did not take off due to the director’s demise. To this, Prithviraj had clarified, “You’ve got your facts wrong @sri50 This is not the film that Rajesh Pillai had planned. This just happens to have the title originally registered for that project.”
